Beauty cannot be expressed in just words, but by the feelings you get whenever you see the beauty of God’s creation. Today I am sitting outside looking around and admiring the green mountains and blue skies. I feel the cool breeze brush across my face as I stare into the distance and I hear the thunder that is beginning to rumble in the far off place. In our busy lives, we often forget to look out and see the wonderful things that God has done for us. We hardly ever stop to admire the detail in His creation; in the world around us.
Right now as I am looking out and seeing the beautiful things around me, I am beginning to feel a peace that is everlasting. A peace that most people long to feel, but don’t know how. There is only one way to achieve this peace, and it's not through the material either, but it is through Christ Jesus! It is through admiring His wonderful works and believing that in Him all things are possible! We CANNOT feel true peace unless we have the Father, we are obeying His commands, and following His will for our lives.
Before I came to Honduras, I didn’t know if I was hearing God and following His will. I believed I was because miracles were happening so I could be here, but I was still not quite sure why it would be His will for me to leave the country for 2 months when I didn’t speak Spanish and my family would be thousands of miles away.
Today I can tell you without a doubt in my mind that I am following God’s will for my life because I have been overcome by a peace I cannot explain. The Lord has blessed me more than ever before, and I know that it is because I am doing HIS will and not mine. I am following His plan and allowing Him to work in me. I am trusting in the Lord and following His commands.
This week I started reading 1 Kings. We were in Church one day and they were reading from there and I thought it interesting so I decided I would start from Chapter one and go all the way through 1 Kings and 2 Kings. (I like reading the whole book so I can get all the information and know what is going on) So far I have read up to chapter 11 in 1 Kings and I can say those 10 chapters I read revealed a lot to me. In 1 Kings chapter 8, King Solomon dedicates the Temple to the Lord and He prays to the Lord that whoever comes to the temple and turns from His evil ways that God would forgive them and that God wold keep His promise that there would always be a descendent of King David sitting on the throne if they stayed true to His ways. In Chapter 9, the Lord tells Solomon that He has heard His prayer and He will keep His promise if they keep His commandments and follow His ways, just as He told King David. King Solomon was pleased and He knew that the Lord kept His promises, but Solomon and his descendents had to do their part for that promise to be continued. They HAD to follow the Lord and His plan.
I know I am following the Lord’s plan for me because I have a peace I NEVER felt before because I am following Christ and Keeping to His ways. I am now allowing Him to take my life and do as He pleases. Before I was the one taking control, but after being here in Honduras I have learned to let go of what I want and I let God take control and do what He wants. I have seen amazing things happen and I have received blessing after blessing!
Don’t try to take control of your own life because God has something so much better for you. You may not see what it is at the moment and it will be hard letting go. You will have to give your control over to God everyday, but when you begin to see God working, you will stand in awe. God has a great plan for your life, don’t let yourself get in the way. Trust the Lord and give your life over to Him; that way you can feel that same peace I am feeling at this very moment; the peace that only God can give!
