Today was my first day of orientation. It seemed to go well, but we did have a bible exam that I did not do so well on…but it was just a pretest so you can compare it to the test you will take when you graduate.
One good thing that happened today is I got to order my books. I was a little worried I was not gonna figure out what books I would need in time to order them, but I got them ordered today and my mom is gonna bring them to me when she comes back to see me.
I do miss home, but like my mom told me back in March, “Chelsea, it’s time to grow up.” Sometimes I wish I could stay a kid forever, but then I would not be able to see all the great things God has in store for me as I head towards becoming an adult. Life does have its moments when we wish we could go back to when times seemed easier; back to a time when we didn’t have any responsibilities. One thing we have to remember is, God will always be by our side to help us and He won’t give us anything we can’t handle. We have to choose how we are going to handle the difficulties we seem to face as we grow up and experience new things. God gave us His word as a guide and He waits by His cloud telephone for us to call and talk to Him.
Talking with God is so easy, but we always overlook it. We hear we have to pray and we say a few words to God before we eat, but prayer is so much more than that. Prayer is our way of communicating with God our Heavenly Father. When we talk to God we should talk to Him like we are talking to our best friend. We can share anything with God and enjoy our time in His company. Even though we cannot see God, He is still there listening.
We need to put our Faith in God and find our peace in Him. Without God we are a mess. We seek things that we think will make us happy, but those things end up bringing us misery. God is the true way to peace and freedom and sometimes we forget that. We get caught up in the world we forget all the promises God makes to us and all the wonderful things He tells us.
We can make any excuse why we don’t seek God, but really, there isn’t one. Just think about this for a second. Ponder on this question I am about to ask. What did you do for God today and how much time did you spend doing it?
Many of us can sit and think about this question and not have an answer. I am even guilty of this, but have you ever really thought about it; thought about what you did for God that day? Jesus gave His life so that we may spend eternity in Heaven with Him. He was beaten, mocked, and crucified, and He did it willingly for you and me. Can we not spend 30 minutes in God’s word every day? Can we not have a daily conversation with our Heavenly Father?
We should long to do things for the Lord. We should get excited about being able to spend time with our Heavenly Father. This is not something we do for just a day, but for the rest of our lives.
I am gonna have to do the same thing. I am not perfect. I don’t read my bible every day and I don’t pray all the time, but I want to start giving back to my Heavenly Father. I want to start spending time with the Man who gave me breath and saved my life. I want to seek the truth of God instead of the lies of the world. We can all do it together; we are not alone.
