Today is move in day for Toccoa Falls College. I am excited but sad to leave my home and family. I know God is going to do great things here at Toccoa because I know this is where He wants me to be. When I was deciding what college I wanted to go to, I told my mom I did not want to go to Toccoa but I wanted to go to ACC. After I made up my mind to go to ACC and I got my acceptance letter, my mom talked me into taking a tour of Toccoa. While we were going through the tour, I was trying to convince myself I was not going to like Toccoa, that God wanted me at ACC. Even though I saw a lot of great things Toccoa offered me that ACC didn’t, I still let my mind focus on ACC. When my parents and I went to talk to one of the counseling professors, I knew God was trying to get my attention. While we were talking to the professor, I got a sense of peace and happiness. I felt like this is where I was supposed to be, even though I wanted to go to ACC.
I applied to Toccoa that day and a couple months later, I was accepted. I have visited Toccoa several times since our tour and I am now in love with it. I am blessed to be here and I know it will be a great year!
One thing a lot of people don’t know is, the day I came to take the tour of Toccoa was the day I was called to spend two months in Honduras. When my parents and I pulled up to Toccoa for our tour, we saw a couple we have known for years, but have not seen in about 2 years walk by our car. This couple lives in Romania and they were at Toccoa because they were going to be speaking in the chapel that day while they were visiting their daughter. While they were sharing in chapel about Romania and missions, I felt the Lord pressing Honduras on my heart. I figured my parents would not let me go to Honduras by myself for the summer, but when I asked them, they were all for it. I was shocked, but I was glad they were willing to let me go. The next thing I thought about was how much I would have to raise to be able to go to Honduras. I did not think I would be able to raise as much as I would need to stay a couple months.
God does amazing things when we submit to Him and what He calls us to do. After I decided I wanted to go to Honduras, my mom wrote Mrs. Tyson and she told me they would love to have me and they would like me to teach English in the Grammar School. Once we asked her how much I would have to raise to come, she wrote back and told us to not worry about the money but buy a cheap plane ticket. That was a miracle! I was able to find a plane ticket for a reasonable price and within two days I was booked to go to Honduras for two months.
God can do amazing things. It is up to us to pursue the calling God has for our lives and the things He is leading us to do. God works in mysterious ways and we cannot put any limitations on what He can do.
