September 2

Yesterday was a great day. First I got to go hang out with my Barnabis group. Then, I got to go eat some food….AMAZING!!! And later I went to a meeting for the AACC conference I will be attending at the end of September. I just want to share a little bit about the meeting I went to last night because during that meeting, I made a commitment that I believe will make a great impact in my life and hopefully many other lives as well.

Last night as we were discussing the AACC conference that will be held in Nashville, TN September 28-October 1, 2011, Mrs. Brock, a counseling professor, passed around a piece of paper for people who would be interested in joining the AACC office for the school. As I looked around, I noticed I was the only freshmen who signed the paper. After we were finished and the people who were interested in office went into another room to meet, I felt a little scared. I was worried they would think I was just a freshman and I would not be a good person to join their office, but thank the Lord, they were happy to have me.

When we were done discussing who would like to be in which position, I decided to talk to Mrs. Brock about something that had been on my mind. I asked her if she remembered a student who had graduated from TFC but had gone to Mercy Ministries before coming to the college. When I asked her, her eyes lit up. I told her how I had gone to Mercy with that girl and we began to talk about Mercy and the program they have there.

During our conversation, I mentioned how Mercy was in Nashville and how I would one day like to work there. After I said that, her wheels began spinning. She began to wonder if there was any way some of the groups going to the AACC conference could go and take a tour of Mercy to see if it might be a place they could be an intern at. I told her I knew some people she could talk to, and when I gave her the numbers, she seemed to be very ecstatic.

Later that night, I called my mom and told her I was thinking about being the secretary for the AACC office. While I was talking to her, I told her how it felt like I was already the secretary because I was already getting names and places for Mrs. Brock to look up and contact. I know that as a secretary I will have to take on a lot of responsibility, but I know that with God’s help I can do anything. I also think it will be a great opportunity for me to get involved with a group of students who share the same academic interests as me.

I know God can work in mysterious ways, and I fully trust Him and know that He has a plan for me here at TFC. Who knows what will happen while I work with the AACC office. I may get to experience some things that can be a blessing in my life, but I would have missed if I had let the fears Satan was pressing in my mind take control.

We must learn to step in faith and do the things we feel led to do, even if we are scared. We must remember that God is with us and we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength. Philippians 4:13

Well Punkin, you are absolutely right! God will lead the man He has for you to you when the time is right! Right now your life is in an upheaval as you learn to balance tons of study and reading with everything else you have going on. We are all so proud of you and we know that you are working hard to do the will of God! Also....don't let naysayers discourage you....God is the only one you are to please and you are doing just that! When someone leaves you a negative is usually because you hit a nerve in their life and it is easier to lash out at others than to change what needs changing. This blog means so much to me and to many others who love you and know just how far you have come. God is clearly working in your life and your sharing it gives so many hope for their lives! You are a blessing from God and you are my special blessing from God!!!!! I love you precious!!!!!
